Food Handling

How can I tell if fresh meat is fully cooked?
The appearance of the product does not necessarily mean the product interior has been heated to the appropriate temperature necessary to destroy bacteria. We strongly recommend using a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature when cooking fresh, uncooked meats.

At what temperatures should meat be cooked?
Schneider Foods recommends cooking meat to a minimum internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) before serving.

How should leftovers be stored?
Refrigerate or freeze leftovers within 2 hours. Cold food should be stored at 4°C or colder. Very hot items should be cooled for 30 minutes at room temperature prior to being refrigerated. We recommend putting a “freeze date” on foods to ensure that they are not stored in the freezer for long periods of time. Freeze foods in shallow containers to accelerate the chilling process.
